Sahar M. Basaria was recently named Vice President of the South Asian Bar Association of Greater Boston (SABA GB).
Sahar, who will serve as Vice President of the organization starting Jan. 1, 2020 for a one year term, has been a member of SABA GB since 2015 and joined the board in 2019 as co-chair of the Mentorship Committee.
SABA GB serves as the regional voice for the concerns and opinions of South Asians in the community generally, and in the legal profession in particular, by providing a forum for professional networking and development, legal scholarship and education, and advocacy and community involvement. By working with other bar associations, governmental agencies and community groups, SABA GB facilitates greater involvement in and understanding of the American legal system by the South Asian community.
Sahar is an attorney at Barton Gilman focusing her practice on civil litigation in the areas of medical malpractice, professional liability, employment law, and insurance coverage. She received her law degree from Boston College Law School, where she served as president of the South Asian Law Students Association and was a member of the LSA Diversity and Inclusion Committee. Sahar attended the University of Florida Honors Program, where she earned a B.A., summa cum laude, in Criminology, and a B.S., cum laude, in Psychology. She speaks conversational Spanish and Urdu.
