The Shapiro Administration announced that it will be making $6.5 million of grants available to support dual credit programs in Pennsylvania. With the passage of Senate Bill 237, brick-and-mortar charter schools and cyber charter schools are now required to participate in dual enrollment. Charter schools must enter into an agreement with at least one institution of higher education authorized to operate in the Commonwealth to allow students to attend the institution of higher education while the students are enrolled in the charter school.
Any charter school wishing to receive grant funding for the dual enrollment program must express interest and complete an online form by Friday, February 24, 2023.
Entities that express interest using the online form will receive access to the grant application on eGrants. The application window will be open from 12:00 AM February 27, 2023 through 11:59 PM on March 10, 2023. Grantees are eligible to receive up to $75,000 for allowable expenses between August 1, 2022 and June 30, 2024. Grant applications should address the goal of the grant program, which is to create or expand equitable and innovative dual credit opportunities for all secondary school students, including students experiencing educational instability, students enrolled in career and technical education programs, low-income students, and historically underserved student groups.
