Mark is an experienced civil litigator, with a focus on medical malpractice defense, personal injury defense, and insurance litigation. He primarily defends a wide range of healthcare providers in medical, professional, and other general liability matters. Additionally, Mark represents various health care professionals in licensure matters before the Rhode Island Department of Health.

An experienced appellate attorney, Mark persuaded the Rhode Island Supreme Court to deny a claim of a firefighter who was injured while assisting a nurse subdue an unruly patient at a hospital. The court applied the “firefighters rule,” which bars an injured public-safety official from suing someone for negligence when responding to an emergency caused by that person’s carelessness or malfeasance.
In medical malpractice cases, Mark has successfully resolved cases on behalf of clients through summary judgment, dismissal, and settlement. He is experienced in various forms of alternative dispute resolution, and has also obtained arbitration defense verdicts involving premises liability matters.
Mark served as a Rhode Island Superior Court law clerk in 2002–2003.
