Jaki concentrates her practice on special education law, student rights advocacy, and complex compliance matters, with a deep commitment to supporting vulnerable student populations. Her extensive experience in both public service and private practice has strengthened her ability to effectively advocate for students and families, particularly those facing challenges within the education system.
Before joining the firm, Jaki served as Deputy General Counsel at the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health. In that role, she managed the Department’s special education caseload, represented the Commonwealth in proceedings before the Massachusetts Bureau of Special Education Appeals, and worked closely with state agencies on compliance and policy issues. She also advised the Children, Youth & Families division on regulation interpretation, special education law, and related policy matters.
Earlier in her career, Jaki worked at Community Legal Aid in Springfield, Massachusetts, where she represented students experiencing homelessness due to domestic violence, ensuring access to protections under the McKinney-Vento Act. Her casework also included advocacy for students impacted by bullying and sexual assault in school settings.
Before beginning her legal career, Jaki gained firsthand experience in the field by working in a special education program at a Boston school, an experience that continues to shape her advocacy on behalf of students and families.
