PROVIDENCE (June 21, 2013) – Frank Connor was recently named as Municipal Court judge for Barrington, R.I., a newly created position for the town.
Connor, a partner in the firm’s Providence office, was selected by the Barrington Town Council over nine other candidates vying for the two-year position. The Barrington Municipal Court will convene its first session in July, and is expected to hold monthly sessions.
As Municipal Court judge, Connor will have jurisdiction over housing and zoning ordinances, as well as other Barrington ordinances except traffic laws. Connor will also have the power to set bail and levy fines of up to $1,000 and imprison violators for up to 30 days.
Connor is an experienced trial and appellate attorney in federal and state courts in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. His expertise includes cases involving medical professional liability defense, business disputes, insurance and reinsurance issues, as well as catastrophic personal injuries.
Connor is on a panel of arbitrators for disposition of Superior Court civil cases following his appointment by the Presiding Justice of the Rhode Island Superior Court .
