PROVIDENCE (Feb. 1, 2011) – Matt Plain and Tim Groves recently toured the Learning Community Charter School in Central Falls, RI, visiting classrooms, observing teacher instruction and interacting with students.
The school serves students in grades K-7 from Central Falls, Pawtucket and Providence. Plain and Groves met with school administrators to discuss the school’s history, mission, instructional models and community outreach.
Plain previously taught 7th and 8th Grade in North Carolina public schools for four years, and has an Advanced Competencies Teaching License for Social Studies Education (Grades 6-12). Groves previously taught high school English for four years at Portsmouth Abbey School in Portsmouth, RI, and currently serves on the Executive Director’s Council of the San Miguel School in Providence.
Both Plain and Groves have served as volunteer mentors for students at Year Up in Providence.
